Some of the best advice I ever received…

came from Sports Psychologist, Peter Jensen. I heard him speak many years ago and the only thing I remember about what he said is:

Act like you have all the time in the world.

How do you react under pressure?

I don’t know if you experience this but when I am feeling the pressure of a deadline or when I am in overwhelm and am not sure what to start first, I feel contracted. I feel like my brain is off being stressed when I need it to focus.

Do you spin your wheels?

If you were watching me when I feel this way, you would notice me spinning my wheels. I pick something up, or open something up on my computer and start doing that. Then I put it down and put my focus on something else. My office chair spins back and forth from one direction to the next and I accomplish nothing.

Relax

When I find myself spinning my wheels, I speak those words of wisdom to myself gently

Act like you have all the time in the world.

Those words relax me. My body expands and I get grounded. I shift my frame of mind and find my focus.

Get stuff done

Invariably, I get what needs to be done, done with plenty of time to spare.

Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished ~ Lao Tzu

Be nature.

Why don’t you give it a try? Next time you feel stressed, act like you have all the time in the world.
How would you feel differently if you acted like you had all the time in the world?

Remember you are amazing. You are capable. You are unique and you are worth celebrating.
