There is constant pressure to do.

We live in an incredibly busy world where there is constant pressure to do. Do more. Do better. Do faster. We can end up being critical of ourselves when we are not doing “enough”. Doing is what we learned in school, doing is what we master at work. Doing provides us with a constant measure of success and value. We can do ourselves to exhaustion so someday we can just be. Yet being feeds the soul.

The challenge to do from being

I was challenged by a friend recently to consider how being informs doing. What I have discovered is that it brings a sense of ease. I am able to accomplish more when I start from a place of being. The drama seems to drop away when I start from a place of connection to me.

There is a different quality

There is a different quality to the time. I lose myself in what I am doing. I begin, when I begin and I end when I end. I feel aligned with who I am. There is a sense of creating rather than pressure to get things done. The experience feeds me rather than drains me. I naturally complete what is most required at this moment.

I feel a sense of connection

When I am doing from a place of being, I feel a sense of purpose, a sense of connection. What I accomplish surprises me. When I am being I hear the quiet whispers of life guiding me. When I am being I have more patience for the people and the world around me. When I am being I understand myself more fully and I am more open to understanding others. When I am being I notice my own rhythm and honour myself more.

Being created my most impactful moments

When I look back at my life, I see that my most impactful and magical moments have been when I acted from a place of being.

When I reflect on this, it makes me wonder why I still have a tendency to do for the sake of doing.

How are you allowing your being to inform what you are doing?
