Do you feel like you could be so much more if you just had the support to get there?

Support is an interesting thing. We tend not to notice the supports we actually have and instead may choose to chase people who offer us little or no support. The result?

Energy Zap.

It took a Feldenkrais appointment for me to recognize it. Feldenkrais uses gentle movements to release tension in the body. When my lesson was over I stood up and for the first time felt I could feel my shoulder muscles just hanging off my bones, like a jacket. I was actually using the structural support of my bones. I realized I make my muscles work so hard to support me when my bones give me that support without the work.

This body awareness was such a metaphor for my life. I realized that:

I tended not to notice the support that I had and would chase the wrong people to get support.

The result? –  Energy zap. So I got curious and asked myself:

  1. What support do I have that I don’t use effectively?
  1. What can I do to support myself?
  1. What is the story I am telling myself about not being supported? Is it true?
  1. Who else can I look to for support?

If you feel unsupported right now, I invite you to take a moment and ask yourself these questions. You might be surprised at how your perspective changes.

What hidden support did you uncover?
